Crates (Bundle management)

Definition

A crate is an XML file that describes a set of OSGi bundles representing a logical component.

Every crate defines

  • a user friendly name,
  • a unique id ending with ".crate" (ie: org.ziptie.client.crate),
  • a version,
  • an install artifact,
  • a description (for the user to understand what the crate is for),
  • a list of other crates that it depends on, and
  • a list of bundles included by the crate.
